Which are the scientific ways to increase creativity power and creative thinking? Do some practical exercises exist?

First, forgive what I expect will be a brief answer. I am teaching myself to create more meaning in fewer words.

A practical exercise to increase one’s creative juices?

Easy.

Spend 10 minutes, twice a day, for one week, sitting quietly in a room with no electronics.

You have one job during this time. One thing to notice and take note. Observe your thoughts and divide them into two piles.

Pile one. Things you feel curious about.

Pile two. Things you feel certain of.

How do you tell them apart?

You use one of the mind’s natural tipping points. Things you are curious about you will be able to picture on the screen of your mind. Things you are certain of you will be unable to picture.

What does being able to picture things have to do with increasing your creative abilities?

To be creative, the mind must be able to picture things you have questions about. And if you feel you already know this thing, the mind will toss this stuff aside.

For example, notice that the only other answer points to The Artist’s Way. Wonderful exercises brilliantly presented. Now if you frame these exercises with the mind’s theoretical tipping points, you have both sides of the creativity equation.

The theoretical side?

You must be picturing things. These things are your paints and brushes.

And the real world side?

You must allow yourself to draw outside the lines. Lines limit creativity. No lines. Ah. You’re a child once again.

Now I have to admit, at this point, I am feeling guilty, as I seem to have failed in my current quest. But all is not lost. I also feel curious as to whether, in my next attempt to be less wordy, I will do better. One can only hope :).
