2018 Retreat | Group 02 – States Of Mind & Hypnotic Induction – part 3 – Sam’s Past Life Regression. Sam is a monster because he fell in love with being in another life.
Maria says she becomes one with everything. A time before language. She also sees a baby there. The group reflects on the experience of watching her. Jesse is anxious about the silence. Maria is a monster because she is afraid. She’s also a monster because she connects to a time before language
Maria leads Karon into a Past Life Regression. Here, Karon experiences a headache once the connection breaks. But she still says it was a pleasant experience. Reminiscent of the times when Steve ask people if they’re overwhelmed and people then find themselves “pleasantly overwhelmed.” Maria is a monster because she hypnotizes people right through the screen.
Steve talks about the differences between leading Past Life Regressions and doing Visual Dialogues, including the loneliness the therapist feels when leading Past Life Regressions. Also a section about Sam’s capabilities & safeness, a precursor to a similar scene from the 2022 Retreat, where Sam struggled to lead a group. Jesse is a monster because he’s trying to figure it all out. Linda is a monster because she doesn’t believe in herself. Sam is a monster because he doesn’t know if he’s safe.
How Character Type gets baked. Most interesting part of this is Clancey realizing that there is nothing wrong with being a three & Maria talking about fear of raising a 1. I also like the idea that character type isn’t brokenness. Maria is a monster because her child might be a one.
Clancey talking about the ones in her life. Clancey is a monster because she struggles with Ones.
Steve talking about the intensity of the retreat, including the amount of scheduled groups.
Linda struggles to understand Character Type and blames herself for it. Linda is a monster because she panics when trying to understand something and can’t.
A conversation about being Me-first vs You-first. Clancey struggled a lot knowing that she is a Three because she didn’t want to be “selfish”. Maria also talks a little bit about Jean trying to give to her and her being unable to take it. Clancey is a monster because she is Me first. Maria is a monster because she can’t meet her needs.
Talking about Regression and expressing needs. Jesse regresses when Steve asks him questions (Linda says in the background jokingly, maybe I should go back to school). Jesse is a monster because Jess can be an “adult” and say her needs and he can’t.
Examples of being “upside down,” Character Type-wise, using Jesse / Clancey / Karon / Linda / Maria. Linda is a monster because she’s upside down all the time.

Start of Day 2, Fun Moments where Clancey talks about circulating fans and Steve is wearing the wrong glasses. He talks about how there’s a change in the group today. Yesterday, there was a stiffness. But today, we are a group. Steve introduces Mind Body Orientation. We are a group of monsters.
Talking about the communication between body first and mind first and doing your half. Sam talks about being a monster because he sometimes forgets to see people in front of him once he tips into his mind.
Jesse & Clancey talk about their school experiences. Connie talks about having a Body first daughter. Talking about ADD medication and how it affected Jesse. Jesse is a monster because he’s quiet in school. Clancey is a monster because she didn’t understand the rules in school.
Clancey talking about her intelligence and the pain of her friendships in acupuncture school. Steve talks about the burden of this knowledge. Maria asks about interpretations of being Mind first. Clancey is a monster because she can’t keep with her friends in conversations.
Maria talks about her relationship with Jean. Jesse says that there’s a certain comfort with a mind first person. Sam and Clancey say that their relationship would not have made it if they didn’t discover mind body orientation. Steve says: “I feel sad for what you’ve gone through not sad for who you are.” Jesse talks about the pain of being in groups with his wife and not having enough words. Clancey and Sam are monsters because they struggled to communicate in their relationships. Jesse is a monster because he can’t keep up in conversation with Jess’s friends. Maria is a monster because she can’t tell when her husband, Jean, says “hello.”
Talking about words vs feelings and sampling. Jesse talks about the pain of saying that he didn’t “get” something. Maria talks about how following words leads to interpretations for her. Steve says that what he loves about being a therapist is feeling like he is talking through the woods with a person. Jesse is a monster because he can’t follow your words.
David asks if the body first people are ever bored. When Clancey gets stuck on the word “bored,” she realized how rarely she gives herself time for sensations to turn into words. Clancey is a monster because she doesn’t know how to give herself time to answer Jesse is a monster because he is afraid of trivia night.
Clancey & Jesse talk about family experiences. Clancey is monster because she thinks her brothers value each other more. Jesse is a monster because he struggles to communicate with his mom.
