Is the Zixia Method true or not?

To begin with, I admit, I have not formally practiced the Zixia method, per se. So I can only address the question peripherally. But I have practiced Vapassana meditation for close to thirty years. I am also personally experienced with many other spiritual practices, most rooted in the ability to visualize.

To be honest, when I read the question, I had to look this method up, as based on the questioner’s phrasing, some of it didn’t fit together for me. So while the idea of getting taller on first glance seems scientifically impossible, it’s not. But what I mean by “getting taller” is in all likelihood different from what the questioner has asked.

Years ago, a girlfriend introduced me to an Alexander Technique teacher. As she was immediately unpretentious and a very sweet woman, I liked her right away. At some point she asked if she could show me some of what she did. And me being me, I was intrigued.

She had me imagine a string attached to the top of my head, and that this string was gently lifting my head in such a way as to unburden my neck. Even now as I’m writing and as I recall this event, it feels almost magical. And it still surprises me that it does anything at all.

It literally made me physically taller. This event left me with yet another proof for the degree to which the mind and body interact. I find this especially true for practices which involve serious amounts of visualization. And while I am skeptical of claims that the mind can change physical laws, I have no problem believing that the mind can change personal experiences of these physical laws. Including that visualizing myself taller will unburden me of some of the physical and mental things pushing me down.
